Change old timer to a more modern control with room thermostat

Hi all,
my family and I have just recently moved house, we're in rented accommodation and I'd like to get the old Danfoss 102 timer changed to a more modern control. Ideally, I'd like a wireless room thermostat but I'm not well up on heating controls etc. so I thought I'd ask in here what my options are. I'll post some pics of the current setup which is basically a timer switch, a black box (not sure what that is), an isolation switch for the timer and a switch to turn on the immersion heater. Appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Tom.

The black box will be where all the bits (pump, valvle, timer, tank stat, etc) are all wired together. Replacing the timer with something a bit more modern along with a room stat shouldn't be too difficult. Even easier if you go for a wireless thermostat. As this is a rented property, do check with the landlord before making any changes. Get it in writing, and use a qualified electrician or heating engineer to do the work (basic "butt covering" in case there are any issues later on).Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
