Ebay Seller's Name is not on Paypal Receipt

I have just been looking through my Paypal receipts for items bought on Ebay and have noticed that the places on the receipt where the seller's name is usually given, is left blank on some reeipts. That means there is no mention of the name of the seller anywhere on the receipt.
I should have thought that having the name of the seller is essential on any receipt, if it is to be called a "receipt".
As well as the legal status of a receipt which does not have the name of the seller on it, it is a bit annoying as I keep paper receipts so I can easily reference them for business accounts purposes and also to quickly find repeat suppliers.
Does anybody know why these receipts do not have the seller's name on them? I reckon about one in five are like this.

I don't know if it is because I have a business account but I have an option of how my buyers see the seller details. Ie, my business (seller name) appears as SELLER1234 for example.
As far as the 'receipt' having any legal protection, the transaction ID is unique to that transaction and will be sufficient to prove a paper trail of the monies.1 -
Thanks. You are probably right about seller choosing how buyers see the seller details. I will try to avoid those sellers if I can identify which have chosen that option.theonlywayisup said:I don't know if it is because I have a business account but I have an option of how my buyers see the seller details. Maybe I am being pedantic about the seller's name not on the receipt as you are quite correctly point that there is an ID number which can be traced. However, what happens if I want to contact the seller at sometime in the future up until the statute of limitation time of 6 years? Will Ebay keep records that long? Maybe is a non-problem as I cannot think of anything from ebay that the seller would be responsable for remedying for more than a say a year under the a warranty.

I think you misunderstood. You cannot chose to avoid the sellers who change their Paypal seller business details as it is not something you see until the transaction is paid. The seller decides how the transaction detail is presented but this is only visible on a paid transaction receipt. Do you mean ebay sellers are hiding their details?Mistral001 said:

If you want to record a seller's name on your transaction then you will have to do it manually if it doesn't appear.
Don't confuse warranty with Consumer Rights - not all items you purchase, particularly on ebay, will have a warranty.0
