Contents insurance - can I have 2 policies running at the same time

I had contents only insurance (policy A) on our rented home. We then purchased a house and took out buildings and contents on that (Policy B) whilst we still had the rental.
We've now moved into the house and end the tenancy on the rental so only need the one lot of insurance, but to cancel either policy costs £35. Moving the contents only policy (A) over to the new house is free so that's good. But taking the contents off the buildings and contents policy (Policy B) actually increases the premium massively.
So the cheapest option is to keep both policies but it does mean I have 2 lots of contents insurance.
Does this invalidate either policies? Insurance companies have a tendency to wriggle out of paying out, so don't want them to say the policy is void for any reason
Any advice greatly appreciated

    Cancel the single contents policy.
How much is left to run on the single policy ?

Content insurance policies are usually linked to a specific address, so you most likely have 2 content insurance policies for 2 separate properties which is not a problem.
  • @DCFC79 @sal_III Both policies are now for the same address. I don't want to cancel either as its a £35 charge.

Just call the insurers and ask them whether this could be an issue, mark the date and time and agent name, just in case, they dispute the advice given later on.
