O/S Daily Tuesday 11 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dark, with a blustery cold wind. Hopefully no snow today - we had hail, then sleety snow that did settle but soon turned to mush - hoping the wind has started to dry it up.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fish and veg. Tonight will be pork chops, mash, veg and gravy.
I'm working at the other office today - so will make a nice change as haven't been over there for a week or 2. Yesterday was quite busy - we'll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

MorningI can't work out how to change the font size, hope this post comes out readable!Abbie Chick has been properly accepted by the other girls, apart from a bit of bossiness from one of the others when I gave them some corn - “me first thank you, know your place!” lol – you'd be hard pushed to tell which one is the new girl.I have a couple more plants to repot, I was going to do them yesterday but the weather was awful again. It doesn't sound great out there this morning either.I've just done an online shop for tomorrow, I would have preferred to wait a few more days but I won't be able to get to the shops at the weekend and I won't pay the weekend delivery prices. I have some work to finish off and clean washing to sort but I'm not sure what to do for the rest of the day, most jobs on my list are outside things. Might search for a new crochet project.

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC - hope you have a good day at work.Semms damp and cold here, yesterday the wind was bitter. We were watching the TV news last night, about the aftermath of the storm - I feel so sorry for all those whose homes were flooded yet again. I t must be absolutely heartbreaking.it was an ok day here, I did everything I'd planned to do and a bit more. Dh was fitting new waste pipes from the bathroom, he had a bit of a problem with a slight leak from the washbasin, but I think it may be ok now, there didn't seem to be anything this morning.Today, I'm going to tai chi then home, Dgs will be here by then, possibly asleep. His Mum takes him to a "swimming" lesson before he comes here on a Tuesday, so he sometimes needs a nap afterwards.Glad to see you back Gers, I was wondering what had happened. Also Butterfly Brain, nice to see you again, I remember your posts.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.Take care folks.13

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. TRU your post is much easier to read than yesterday, well done.
The howling wind has been at it most of the night but thankfully the chance of snow hasn't materialised (yet!) Yesterday we got a mix of everything so imagine today will be much the same. And it feels flippin' cold again! I will need to wrap up like Nanook of the North for my trip into town to meet my oldest friend for our usual Tuesday coffee(s) and lunch meet up. Our coffee shop is still clinging on for now but it seems the end will soon be nigh. Such a shame as it's been in business a long time. I remember my MIL meeting her buddies in there when she retired and that must be over 40 years ago.
Well Sparkle is now in possession of her Deluxe whatnot.. I knew when it said easy to assemble it would be anything but!!! The instructions wouldn't have gone amiss on the Krypton Factor and assembly involved about a hundred different pieces and a million screws! Sparkle was taking a great deal of interest but not much help. Eventually 3 hours later it was erected! Even if I say so myself I made a good job of it!!
As I am expecting a substantial lunch out, today will be a no cooking day. My usual sachet of soup and bagel are out defrosting for when I get peckish later.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. GERS and REDRUBY good to "see" you back again, even if you are in semi-disguise! Take care all xx

Morning folks. My disguise has been shrugged off, I am back to my original 'clothes', thanks for the welcomes. I missed you all too. I'm still looking at the forum on my iPad so not had a good look around yet. Maybe later.Yesterday I took my car for its service along with a new book to read - brought the car back and forgot the blooming book so I'll be going to collect it later this morning.Seeing the devastation left by the storm is just awful. Glasgow only really had rain and high winds, nothing as dreadful as northern England or even the Borders.DM continues to be mostly bed bound though she makes occasional trips up and down the hall. I've been slowly clearing out stuff from the front room now that the shredding marathon has finished. Now I suppose I must rouse myself properly. I wish everyone a happy Tuesday.13

Morning. Cold here. We did have snow yesterday but it didn’t stick. Working this morning Dd is at school today yesterday it was shut as they had no heating. I will go into town this afternoon need to get some cards and a present. I need to go to the library as I have a book that I need to show them my kitten has ripped 2 pages. Of course it’s a new hard backed book so will not be cheap.14

Bright but cold here we are due sleet showers later but no snow unfortunately, it was bitterly cold when I took the pup to the park yesterday so will wrap up warm when we go today.
Dinner tonight will be chicken parmagania, that's one good thing about being off I have more time to prep dinner I will do a few wedges with it and some broccoli.
Housework and washing to do this morning, and will then take the pup to the park and come back, I usually lay down to 'watch a film in the afternoon but always fall asleep ! Im just going with it for a while as I obviously need it !
Have good days all xx

Good morning, it is very cold here with a bitter wind, been out with birdseed and brrrrr.
Hello to new and returning posters.
I can see that I wasn't the only one to struggle to get here, it took 3 goes for me and the first two were very frustrating. This new version looks quite pretty but is harder on the eyes.
I don't have anything much planned today, a couple of fancily dressed bears to finish, they are raffle prizes. A more dedicated woman might do some housework but I am not that woman, not today.
Keep warm and safe!
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Morning all Dolly is walked and fed WM is whirring away weather is cold but no snow for us fingers crossed for no more rain the sun is shinning so that brings a bit of cheer . DM called last night as one of her oldest friends had died very suddenly her son called to let mum know so she is a bit shaken up but i have said i will take her to the funeral whenever it is as there has to be a coroners inquest first.
TA to be honest if it says easy to assemble on the pack i usually make DH put it back as it always proves to be the opposite
Ruby take it easy and go with the flow you must do what your body tells you xx
Right onwards n upwards deep clean of bathroom today and tuesday night is pie night so steak pie for dinner .
Have a great day whatever you are up to and stay warm and dry xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning all,Glad to see you all whether it be old or new 'disguises'
.ButterflyBrain welcome back, sounds like you've had a rough time health wise, hope it improves soon. RRuby, a nap seems reasonable and sensible to me,hugs.
It keeps hailstoning here, naturally it started as soon as I went through the door with pooch, she wasn't happy. I thought I was minding DGS today as he's still off school but his Mum is staying off with him again. I thought I would have to cancel this afternoons catch up with a friend, no need now but I don't think we'll go far.Thinking of the poor people here and in Yorkshire flooded again. It's horrible & surreal to see your house under water and things floating around, wouldn't wish it on anyone. Thankfully the remedial work that was done here 4 years ago has done the job for us so far (fingers crossed smiley) doesn't stop us feeling nervous when it's so bad thoughDid a bit of sewing yesterday afternoon but my stitches kept slipping, probably need to change the needle, will do it later. Did my online order for tomorrow instead so I could get my preferred delivery slot - I'm like you Tru with weekend delivery charges, and have a midweek pass.Right better go and do something useful, enjoy your day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
