Child Support Demands!

I am getting sudden letters for child support from the Child Enforcement Agency, it is because my ex is claiming that her child with her new partner is mine. I told the agency over the phone and by letter that i will pay as long as i first get proof that this is my child, i have asked for a dna test but my ex has not responded, i will take full responsibilty should the child be mine but i'm certain it's not.
Unfortunately the agency is still sending these demand letters and saying that proving this is not their job but in that case i don't know what to do?
Do i have any rights here because surely she could claim this is anybodys child and we were not married either?
Can i just ignore these letters as i have already told them that i have no proof?

The leaflet that the link takes you to explains that you must pay the money until you have proved that the child is not yours. It's not difficult!

I thought you could only expect child support from a parent who is on the birth certificate and for the father to be on the birth certificate they must be present at the time of registering the birth?0
