Unsecured loan from Tesco has appeared on my clearscore

I use clearscore to track my credit score, since I am looking to move and just got my first credit card to try improve my score. I checked it today after receiving a email that I had new updates, it said 'A new unsecured loan will be added to your next credit report.' I might just be freaking out over it and its nothing but I thought I would ask just in case. I do work for Tesco and have done for 3 years now and my credit card is not through Tesco. Any help or guidance would be appreciated and is clearscore the best credit score tracker i could be using?

Hi stephmax and welcome to the forum  :)

Have you applied for a Tesco loan?

I would check my Statutory credit file direct from Equifax as any new Tesco account or Tesco credit application (hard) search would be listed

If it were me, I would also check my credit file with both Experian (MSE Credit Club) and TransUnion (CreditKarma) as they may all contain different data.

  • Thanks for the reply :) I have not applied for a Tesco loan or any at all from anyone. I will have a look into a hard search and check other means of my credit score, thank you!

It is the accuracy data recorded in your three credit files that you should be checking.  Your 'credit score' does not matter as a typical lender will never see your 'credit score' and never use your 'credit score' either.

A lender scores you against their independent criteria and policies using the data held in your three credit files, added to the data you submit in your credit application, added to the data they may already hold on you as an existing or returning customer.
