Paid a deposit, now changed my mind due to circumstances, am I fully entitled for the deposit?
Good afternoon,
I am looking for some advice and assistiance. I have put down a deposit for a used car. The next day I have changed my mind, am I entitled for a full refund? The car was paid at the dealership, test driven and all sorted. I read about the car with common problems and puts me off hence wanting the deposit back. Thank you

The whole point of the deposit is security against you changing your mind and backing out of the deal.
On the other hand, the supplier can only keep enough of the deposit to cover the costs incurred by your indecision.1 -
What does the contract you signed with the deposit say?0

I only signed a contract which was the remaining balance and the price of my car for part ex. I tried to look for small print but unable to see anything that mentions in regards to refund.0 -

If they've done nothing bar put the paperwork on one side, then your deposit should be more or less unscathed.
Moral of the lesson? Do your research pre-purchase...0 -
What car was it?
There are many cars with common problems, in fact I cannot think of any cars that don't have a common fault of some description that have been plastered over the internet.

That's what a deposit is for. In case you back out. If it's a main dealer then they may refund you as a goodwill gesture (particularly if they think they can sell you a different car) but you are by no means entitled to it back.0

Never give a car dealer money unless you are 100% comfortable with buying the car.

Your circumstances haven't changed. Nothing has changed. You seem to have changed your mind based on what you have read on the internet. Remember that people don't post about how good their cars are. They only seem to post about problems.0

It depends firstly on what you signed and secondly on the goodwill of the dealer. I did the same as you when I gave what I thought was a non-returnable deposit for a used car then changed my mind. I was surprised when I got my deposit back. The very understanding dealer was Availablecar. I did do it the day after so they hadn't done anything to progress the sale but credit where credit's due...0
