I had a quote from another contractor who said it would have been less than half the price and was appalled.
Turns out that the person who carried out the work and the person that contracted him without anyone’s knowledge have a longstanding history!
I am not intending to pay and will take the advice of citizens advice if required, especially after the bullying behaviour demonstrated yesterday when he invited himself in to “discuss”.There was a lot of lawyer speak involving the words conceed,we didn’t conceed anything!
Thank you all again, let’s hope today is a peaceful one.😍1 -
Oh and just in case anyone looks at this and has a hedge to have cut...ask your local farmer, I asked a client of mine who is a farmer and he said he would have charged 50 pounds an hour and it would have been a maximum of a days work...as the saying goes you do the math!0

Valid point re the local farmer. I certainly see them going around with those huge hedgecutting type machines and they've whacked through it in no time.
So he's ill-mannered, as well as everything else, and that would put my back up if someone asked for food in my home. Manners dictate a glass of tap water can be asked for and everything else has to be offered and you don't ask for food (even from a good friend) and just hope you're offered it (if you want it).
I am not surprised at the "divide and rule". That's a frequent tactic and I suspect the people chosen to drive the wedge would be most likely to be single/widowed older women (as women are still thought of by more old-fashioned people as being easier to "push over" than single men or couples). Good idea to have a group meeting and hopefully this fact will dawn on everyone that that is what he is up to.

As such, I have the right to eject you from my home using reasonable & proportional force if necessary.... You will struggle won't you..."Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0
