Hi all
Ive had a Vanquis credit card for about 10 years now....currently at 4K limit......never in the time I’ve had the card have I been in arrears with it...payment always made on time.....although i have paid interest on it...sometimes quite high ...
as time as moved on I have newer cards with better interest rates etc..
would I be doing myself a injustice by closing down the vanquis....by far its the longest card I’ve had....the temptation to spend on it is always there ( balance zero at moment )....would I take a hit on my credit file by doing this

It depends on your wider file.
What other cards and limits do you have - and how long have you held them?0 -
Have a American Express plat cashback card....3k limit....using in 1st year for cashback
barclaycard....had for 5 years...zero balance ...5k limit
amazon plat card...balance of 850k....normally clear each month....5k limit0 -

Your limits are all fairly low, so I would keep it for now.

Feel better for closing it....temptation was high to spend on it....

I am in the same boat- I think if there is much temptation to use a credit card for something you can't really afford right now it is best not to have the option!
