Vanquis card...close down ?

Hi all
Ive had a Vanquis credit card for about 10 years now....currently at 4K limit......never in the time I’ve had the card have I been in arrears with it...payment always made on time.....although i have paid interest on it...sometimes quite high ...
as time as moved on I have newer cards with better interest rates etc..
would I be doing myself a injustice by closing down the vanquis....by far its the longest card I’ve had....the temptation to spend on it is always there ( balance zero at moment )....would I take a hit on my credit file by doing this

It depends on your wider file.
What other cards and limits do you have - and how long have you held them?0 -
Have a American Express plat cashback card....3k limit....using in 1st year for cashback
barclaycard....had for 5 years...zero balance ...5k limit
amazon plat card...balance of 850k....normally clear each month....5k limit0 -
You're going to need to make a hefty payment to get that back under the limit.dazzaofdagenham said:

Your limits are all fairly low, so I would keep it for now.

The balance is zero and limit of 4K....may just leave it as it is for a couple of months..

Ok...i closed it down today
either I did that or I ordered a Samsung 20+ 5G.......

Good decision if you ask me. They’ll never have you back now though

Feel better for closing it....temptation was high to spend on it....

I am in the same boat- I think if there is much temptation to use a credit card for something you can't really afford right now it is best not to have the option!

im also really tempted by the S20+ lol, but it is the s11, in all but name, and i have the s10+ (and i usually only go for the even numbers S series, so the next one will be my next i think!)dazzaofdagenham said:Ok...i closed it down today
