Can Equifax mannualy amend credit report?

I posted a thread just over a week ago about one of our old defaulted accounts being taken over by another company (Arrow Global) and the default date being changed from 29/9/16 to the 2/4/19...not great as we are applying for our mortgage next week. (I cannot seem to find my thread on this)

Anyway, we raised a dispute with Equifax and they have now had confirmation from Arrow that the default date was 29/9/16 and that they would update this on the credit report on the 15th Feb. We then had a another notification that this will be updated on the 29th February - just under 3 weeks away - very frustrating.

Now that Equifax have this information confirmed by Arrow, is there anyway that they are able to manually change this to prevent the hold up with our mortgage application or is it just a case of playing the waiting game.

To respond to your query; yes they can. If it so wishes to Equifax does have the tools to change any report at any time.
Since you’re only one in a catalogue of millions of customers they’re probably working through amendments slowly.

They can, but they probably won't, can you not just put off your mortgage application for a couple of weeks? Irritating, but this is just how it works. Sadly we are all merely numbers in a system that doesn't really care about individuals....
  • Thank you both. Called Equifax today and they have said that as Arrow Global have not given them to update the file manually, they have to open up another dispute requesting their permission to do so.

Frustrating but will just have to remain patient and put the mortgage application in when it is all resolved.
