New Programmable Thermostat,Temperature More Even and Lounge more Comfortable

I think any cost saving claims are rather unrealistically compared to leaving heating on 24/7. If someone who previously turned the heating off at night (and froze) fits one and has the heating on overnight at a lower level, they will actually use more energy; but that's the price to pay for comfort.0

I can certainly concur with @MWT regarding the Honeywell DT90E. I had a Salus programmable thermostat for many years and it was an improvement over the original bi-metal-strip dial type of device. The Salus was set at 21.5 degrees C and kept the temperature within the band 21-22 degrees C. No longer needing a programmable thermostat, I recently replaced the Salus with the Honeywell DT90E. Now a set point of 21.5 degrees C is maintained all the time, without any deviation. The thermostat seems to achieve this by not letting the radiators cool down much. The boiler does cycle more frequently but only needs to 'chortle along', never needing to re-heat cold radiators.MWT said:Also worth looking at the Honeywell DT90E if a fully programmable solution is out of reach or not suitable due to renting etc.Just using the DT90E to replace an old room thermostat can give you a lot of the benefits at a lower cost, including the ability to set a lower temperature for a set number of hours and better boiler control to maintain more accurate temperatures.1
