Hudl 2 problems

My 9yo has a hudl2 that appears to have stopped working....it won't switch on.
The charging lead works, it will charge other items.
I thought it might be the charging port, but when plugged in the hudl feels like it is getting warm, ie charging.
Any ideas?

    Loose connector .
    Charging lead faulty
Or USB port dirty   would be my first steps .
  • Does the red light come on when it is (maybe) charging and getting warm? If so does it eventually go green?
It may also be worth trying a soft reset, explained at the bottom of this article....

If that doesn't work you could try the hard reset (first part of the article) but that will also erase your data.

My OH's Hudl had the problem repeatedly and I used to cure it with soft resets. Eventually, I bought her a new tablet (a Samsung), since when the Hudl has worked perfectly  ;). So the remedy is - get the Hudl some competition and it might behave itself.

Changed the charging port - no joy.
Is it worth replacing the battery or give up and buy a different tablet?

  • Regarding my Hudl 2:  I have installed the 'Virgin TV Go' app.  When I try to watch TV on my Hudl2, I get the message 'your Wifi is weak and cannot run this app'.  I also have a smartphone (also Android), and this will show the Virgin TV Go with no problems, using the same router.  Is there something that I can do to rectify this?

Check your wifi signal/ settings .
  • It is only recently that I have had this issue.  It worked fine for ages, and then suddenly stopped performing correctly for no apparent reason.

A cheap replacement is the Amazon Fire tablet 8 inch. I bit of fiddling and you can have all the Google Play apps on it. Or just use Amazons apps where the parental controls are good.
