Wondered if anyone could offer any advice please..
Lived in my flat for 5yrs with no trouble. Everyone’s mailboxes are in a communal area, when I moved in I didn’t have a key (neither did landlord or letting agency) last tenant had bent the door in order to access mail.
Lived in my flat for 5yrs with no trouble. Everyone’s mailboxes are in a communal area, when I moved in I didn’t have a key (neither did landlord or letting agency) last tenant had bent the door in order to access mail.
Someone (don’t know who) broke off my lock. Since then I have come home and found a HMRC letter addressed to me had been ripped open and left on the side.
The last few weeks I’ve had parking fines coming through for people I’ve never heard of.
I installed a new lock and the next day (and every day since) I can see that someone has been bending the door to get in to my mailbox. I’ve received letters from the DVLA and councils for people who have never lived here (I believe them to be fake names), and someone has registered at least 3 other cars to my address.
I’ve informed the police (they’ve closed the case and filed it already as I have no evidence of who it is/could be). Spoke to DVLA who are going to remove all cars expect my own from my address. Spoke to the people who own the building (landlord cannot do anything for things outside of the flat itself), all they did was tell me to call the police.
What can I do?! This is happening multiple times a day (on 1 day they attempted to get in my mailbox 3 times)

Security camera? You alone are the target?
Is it possible to install a high security mailbox?

That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Letters addressed to someone else shouldn't come back to affect you. Credit records are based on your name rather than address.
Put a note in the mail box that the police have been informed. That may stop the perpetrator. Send anything official looking back to sender marked "not known at this address".I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I thought of a security camera but there are no plug sockets. Also, I’d want a discreet one and it’s a weird location! (Almost underneath the stairwell) I believe I’m the sole target, yes.I’m going to call and ask the property manager tomorrow to see about a new box being installed0

Put a note on the mailbox saying “Smile! You’re now on camera :-)” they needn’t know there isn’t one!1
