Life after Santander, where to switch to?

Thanks Speedbird. Looks like Nationwide is the way to go in terms of current account. Does anyone bank with them?0

Think most of us on here have milked it and moved on... barring the occasional referral opportunity. They're good enough.CashMoney said:Thanks Speedbird. Looks like Nationwide is the way to go in terms of current account. Does anyone bank with them?
I'd open the Marcus to grab the 1.35% and use it, or bung a few quid in and use it as necessary - if you find something that suits you better. It's easy open and easy operation.

My wife and I have separate individual accounts with Santander plus a joint account. If we switch to HSBC, will both single accounts qualify for the £175 incentive? And how about the joint account?

Two sole accounts can be switched separately to HSBC for two £175s (assuming they accept both applications), and a joint account can also be switched but wouldn't attract a further incentive payment, as per clause 4 of the offer Ts & Cs....isalachi said:My wife and I have separate individual accounts with Santander plus a joint account. So just to make sure guys...out of the 3 options above I should go with Nationwide for my current account? Or are there any other options? I don't want to go with Barclays or Natwest.0

Thanks for that. That's how I interpreted Clause 4 too. I was just hoping there might be some wriggle room.eskbanker said:

It's entirely up to you. I suggested Nationwide as for the next year you'd get 5% interest on the first £2,500 in your account so it makes sense to keep that as your minimum balance. You'd also get the £100 switch incentive if you can find somebody to refer you.CashMoney said:
Personally, I moved to HSBC, but there were other factors as I was also looking to close my American Express Platinum card and the HSBC Premier account offers the two main benefits (Travel Insurance and Lounge Access) at a much better cost.0
