in Credit cards
Hi
I have a barclaycard 0% for 24 months with zero balance. Credit limit of £4000. If I want to purchase something for £4500 could i pay in £500 beforehand? Is this possible?

No. I believe you would be breaking the terms of your agreement.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Should be OK, but sometimes some forms of payment won't work. For example, Santander's website won't allow a payment much larger than the current balance, but I've had no problems paying cash over the counter. You may have to try a faster payment from another account. If you leave it with a credit balance for a significant time Barclaycard will send you a cheque for the balance.

Could you not pay £500 cash and the £4000 on the card?
Or use another card?

Possibly. It's for flights. I'll ask the airline. This is my 1st ever credit card, so not sure how things work. Got card to spread the cost over a year or 2 but if can't I'll pay flights with debit card and use credit card for other things.st999 said:Could you not pay £500 cash and the £4000 on the card?

could you call the cc company and ask for a £500 credit limit increase - explain why0

I have done this in the past and got away with it, but as others have pointed out it will almost certainly be a breach of the T&Cs, and I may have been lucky! It's highly unlikely that the limit will be increased on a newly-opened account. They usually make you wait 6 months before you can request a limit increase.0

Where are you booking the flights?
Have a look around for a coupon code or discount code, if it's an agent ask if you can just get £500 knocked off the price, if you don't ask you don't get
