I noticed that Vanguard give interest on cash held in the cash account (ie cash not invested in funds). I know it may not be much as it's not prudent to hold a large cash balance, but what I'd like to know is, does this 'gain' need to be declared as interest and therefore offset against the PSA, or does it form part of the overall investment gain and offset against CGT.

Is this an unwrapped investment?0

it's interest not gains so it's taxed as such, whether any is due depends if it's in an account that's liable to pay tax or not.1
