Looks like I am going to court - would appreciate advice

    The fact you can show you've tried to settle multiple times, and that they refused mediation, already puts you in a great position. Judges do not like being messed around and if this does come down to your word against theirs, he is likely to find in your favour. After all, the attitude they are giving towards you regarding the court case can be used to show a pattern of poor service, which helps your case... If they act this way in regards to court case, it's likely they run their business in a similar way. Add that to the proof of the story changing and you are in a strong position.

    In terms of advice, as everyone has said, you have what you need. Lay it out as simply as possibly. Do not waffle. Do not put in things like "stress, could have hurt someone, what if I'd been elderly, think of the children". Just facts.
