  • Elantan, Morten says he knows you are stalking him & is getting an injunction against you ;) :rotfl:

    My money situation is dire.

I have been horrendous with money.

Depression & money do not go together at all.

I get some child benefit on Monday & get paid on the 18th.

Till then I will scrape by.

Will resume spending diry. See don't do it for one day, then it;s so easy to stop.

ALWAYS, CONSTANTLY update the spending diary. It is Very Important.

  • its a vicious circle really. Depressed so I spend. Look at finances & become more depressed.

    Arrgghhh.

Stupidly bought dd a nintendo ds. I am hoping the shop may take it back. One of those stupid spur of the moment buys. My dh will go nuts as well, as he said she shouldn't have it...

  • I bought DS a spiderman dress up outfit today & a few transformers for his stocking.

I was pretty good, spesh as I had 4 hours to kill in town.

I am going to try & transfer next & cc to 0% card.

    Hi MrsH

Keep going with the diary. It's tough because it's Christmas and you need/want to buy presents but think how much more you'd be spending if you weren't keeping a diary and visiting this site.

And remember, you are a very lucky lady to have such a hunk for a husband ;)
  • I feel quite good right now. It might sound silly to others but there was Playmobil toy in TK Maxx that was 1/2 price. £45 instead of £90. Was going to go in & get it today but have realised that although the product is cheap it isn't really money saving as DS has loads of toys already for xmas & already as the playmobil hospital coming & other playmobil stuff from rellies. :D

I applied & was approved for the MINT card last night. So thats where my Next & my CC balance will go. I shall set up a standing order for at least £200PM to get that paid off before the 0% runs out.

Also I shall rip up the pin when it arrives & NOT activate the card.

I shall also close my other cc account down & shut the next account down.

I am tempted to keep the next account though for the sale as I always get in 1st but I 1st need to make sure I can pay the bill when it arrives...

  • MAybe peeps will think this is a cop out. But DH has loads of money. LOADS.

About 20 grand in the bank. And he earns loads PM. So I am going to ask him to clear my debts.

They were not built up on terrible things. Mainly on h=kids & house & my depression.

I am hoping he will. It always seems like me & him iyswim.

I buy Primark, he buys designer.

Its not like a marriage in a weird way cos there is this issue with the money. He has no issues, I am hard up.

I KNOW its my fault but by the same token my spending wasn't done maliciously. He enjoyed the fruits of my spending if that makes sense.

Because of my job I have just secured us a much cheaper mortgage (£100 PM less) with NO costs at all.

When we got married we both had NOTHING. I have helped him build up what we have.

I am expecting lots of harsh reples on here if anyone reads this!

  • Hi Mrs H....... just read the diary so far, and have a quickie question..... are ur finances both run seperately? The reason I ask is that it makes no sense for ur H to have £20k sat in the bank whilst ur family have all these debts.... I don't think its too much to ask at all...... My OH is pants with money, but I transferred his 40% apr debt to my 0% card because it meant that as a family, we would save interest...... The least I would expect from ur hubby is to let u have the £100 pm u saved on the mortgage to put towards ur debts....

    Good luck!

  • They are run completly seperatly.

    He is 'funny' with money.

I might be making him sound horrible, & I don;t mean to cos he's lovely. BUT he's a but like Mr Mean from the Mr Men books, I think he likes counting it. well looking at the balances. He always have at least £1000 left over from his salary every month.

Don't get me wrong, he's not a horrible man or anything.

I really really am trying so hard. xmas has been the killer. So I want a clean slate. I know its the cheats way out, I really do, but surely if we will be together for the next approx 40 odd years then this benefits us both?

Definately.... what is the point of u struggling and getting stressed out when he's sat on all that money....
I guess the way to sell it to him is to say 'yes I have done this, but look what I have done so far to try and fix it. It won't happen again, and the clean slate will enable me to save for things like Xmas/BDays etc....'

My OH earns approx £500pm more than me, but happily lets me take the bills money, plus rob any change out of his pockets (except 20p's, need them for snooker) and if I ask for money, he gives it to me, and vice versa.
Marriage should be a partnership in all aspects, money inc.
