Buying a house - Preston area

Hi. I would appreciate any advice on South Ribble area, Ribble Valley, Chorley-Wigan, and Preston itself, although Preston I know quite well, not so much the other areas. All other areas tend to have worse high schools and are much greener and seem nicer. What do you think? Thank you!

  • Depends where exactly you are looking. It's a wide net you are casting.  Clitheroe is the aspirational town, and Clitheroe Grammar School is sought after. I'd figure out your budget and then take a drive around a few of the places you are thinking of, visit for a day out etc.  Personally I'd stay out of Preston itself, its getting busier and busier, Chorley isn't too bad, but is still a bit grim in the centre, though the outskirts can be very nice. I'd aim for living where the green stuff is.- Though stay away from Parbold, which even though it is very pretty indeed, they are trying to build a massive landfill site there which will suck for those living in the area.
