Post Office savings - DD appears to be cancelled

I've been using PO account to generate an extra DD. All worked well for a year, but last month the DD wasn't taken so I lost interest on a current account
At the moment the situation is the following:

1) The current account doesn't show a PO DD set up
2) The PO account does show the current account as the linked account, but DDs bounce back and show as "DD unpaid" on the statement.
I've tried to reset monthly payments myself with no avail though I've received a letter from PO saying that the DD has been set up. I am certain I've never cancelled the DD. I did, however, stated 31st of December 2019 as the end of the previous regular DD period (as required by the PO). But I didn't expect the DD to be cancelled completely.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Not sure how to resolve it, but my DD has no end date even though you say the PO require it, and it's been working successfully since I opened the account. Try to avoid that if you do set it up again.

Set up a completely new DD ie different date of the month & different amount to your previous DD. That has worked for me in the past with PO (& Birmingham Midshires who have flaky DD systems) and at least that way I can see exactly which DD is working.0

Open a new account with the Post Office and link the current to it. You can then set up a direct debit to the new account and close the faulty PO account.0

I've had this problem with them before. When I complained they Denied it was their fault when it is a problem with their system.
In the end I just opened a new account.
Also if switching current accounts they don't move the DD, they just cancel it.0 -
