  • Good morning!
Chaotic couple of days here. DS been wiped out by the sickness bug that wiped half his class out last week. Was quietly smug as we’d managed to avoid it, but alas it’s caught up with us. Cue a night of very little sleep, washing machine being overworked and a cranky mummy and daddy!
Did a small Aldi shop - didn’t need a massive amount as still relatively well stocked from last month. Did a quick tally of Febs food/ household spend and was shocked to see it was still over £500. This did include multiple top up shops and food on the go. I thought we’d done pretty well last month too. If I get it and keep it at £400 I’d be happy.

A couple of small positives to post....
    1. I won a Chilly’s style water bottle in comp run by one of the horsey feed company’s - very handy.
    2.  Was sent a random £10 voucher by b0den. Treated myself to a lovely pair of lounge pants that had been reduced in the sale. Cost to me £2.50
    3.  £16 in eBay sales

Have a fab day x xx

Thanks Rgib89 - can’t promise it’ll be the most exciting read but it’s great to have company!
  • Morning!
Well it’s been a while since I last updated. MSE wise not much to report - we’re just plodding towards payday at the end of the month.

On a personal level I’m feeling completely overwhelmed at the mo. Firstly work is horrendous again and has spurred me on to get rid of the debt and plan my escape. I’m currently in a pretty well paid part time job, I was able to return part time after mat leave. The role however is not part time and I’m expected to do more now than I was full time prior to mat leave. With DS being so young I really need to work part time, however the PT jobs out there are not on a comparable level or pay to what I’m currently earning. Therefore realistically to find something else I’m going to need to take a pay cut, which whilst paying this off I can’t afford to do.

Secondly my weight is also out of control - I’m heavier now than I was when I was 9 months pregnant! I really hate myself for getting into this state, I know it’s closely linked to my mental heath and really need to break the cycle. At the end of the day I’m so physically and emotionally shattered that I eat whatever’s easiest, put my pjs on and lose myself in a book. I know I’ll feel so much better once I’ve forced myself to begin to break the cycle. On that note does anyone know anything about the new style weight watchers?

Thirdly the house house is really getting me down. It’s a never ending cycle of tidying and cleaning - I need to do a massive declutter and car boot but the way the weather is that won’t be happening anytime soon.

I know I sound like a broken record as debt, work, weight and house are my 4 constant battles- really need to get it sorted  :(

sorry for the woe is me, negative, moany post - just need to get it out there. Will spend some time today trying to come up with a few baby steps in the right direction.

    Have a good day x

I think to lose weight successfully you have to learn to love your body proverbial warts and all. Are you getting any help with feeling low?

https://www.theorganisedmum.blog/the-organised-mum-method/ might be worth having a look at... people seem to think it really works... although you may have to do the decluttering first   Do you have a garage/shed/loft where you could store the (full) boxes for carboot?
Have you looked at the 5:2 diet?  All info is online and it's easy to fit around your normal life.. its surprising how quickly the weight comes off, and doesn't cost weekly fees.. so that money can go towards paying something off! :)
I'm assuming you've spoken to your boss about your workload?  In reality you can only fit so much into a given number of hours, so don't overwhelm yourself by doing more... tell the boss you can't fit a gallon into a pint pot!  I know it's easier said than done but, seriously, if you continue to get the work done regardless, then they will happily let you!
And, by the way, you ARE allowed to moan and get things off your chest... that's what diarys are for

    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy
  • Well hello!
Been a strange old year so far COVID-19 / lockdown has put life on hold in more ways than one. We’ve been very very fortunate in that we’ve been safe so far and have on the whole enjoyed our time together this year. I am however yearning a return to normality as I’m sure the vast majority are!

Debt wise progress has been circular! I’m guessing we’re pretty much back where we were at the beginning of 2020. Weight wise I’ve lost approx 12lb and rediscovered my running mojo. On the whole I’m sticking to shorter more frequent runs as they’re easier to schedule in, but I’m enjoying it again which is the main thing!

I need to sign off for now, but I’m back and determined to finish my journey this time!
  • Morning!
Very very wet here this morning. Early morning trip to sort ponies done, I’m now back home with very little intention of leaving until it’s time to head back to the farm later this afternoon.

I had £20 eBay sales yesterday and another load of auctions on that are currently sitting at £45. Using the money to pay off Klarna (yes I know🙈). eBay have a sellers deal on at the mo where you get 10% of any sales over £10 back in ebay vouchers so I’m planning on listing as much as possible during this time. Will hopefully get some done today whilst hiding from the rain!

DS starts school next week - I’m hoping we’re sorted. It’s cost a small fortune in shoes and uniform but I think we’re pretty much there now!

Once DS is safely at school, it’s time to start turning attention to Christmas. I’ve been putting cash in a tin this year (it’s worked so much better than having an separate bank account for me). Work have also introduced a new life insurance scheme where you get paid in vouchers for hitting step counts. This has been pretty easy for me with running and dog walks. It’s not overly generous but I’m managing the maximum £5 in vouchers each month which will pay for a few bits. I’ve also got £120 in Cashback to convert to vouchers, £20 in boots vouchers  and heading towards the £40 payout in One poll so am hoping to have approx £200 in “free” cash by the time December arrives 🤞

    Have a great day x

  • not wishing to derail your Christmas plans but I have started to make the routine purchases e.g. socks, etc in case of a second surge and lockdown.  I’m afraid to assume that I’ll be able to buy stuff later in the year.  I do however track costs as I need to get a balance between my two.
