eBay packlink delivery claim closed - I’m being ignored

I sold an item on eBay that was fragile. I used the eBay delivery packlink service to send it.
It arrived with the contents totally smashed and the photos of the box sent to me by the buyer showed it completely destroyed as if it was used by someone playing football. Strong cardboard was torn all over it.

They have closed the claim near immediately after I sent them the photos saying that the packaging was insufficient.

I had packaged it up so well, it had foam and wrap and was no movement available in the box at all and was well padded. It was secured and marked as fragile.

16 days ago when they closed the claim I responded saying I didn’t accept that as the photos clearly show thorough padding inside and that it had been mistreated and requested to raise this complaint.

They aren’t even offering my delivery charge or eBay fees refunded so I am out of pocket by the item value along with the additional fees.

Packlink are totally ignoring me and not responding.

what can I do?

My understanding is they don't have any UK presence so I don't think you have much recourse.

This doesn't help the OP but their guidelines on their website state:

    • Choose a corrugated cardboard box. Make sure it is sturdy and robust. The box must be new, not used.

which is total nonsense and highlights their attitude.

There are so many options for sending parcels now I simply can not see why anyone would use packlink?

Most people recommend packing in two boxes. Wherever possible I'd use polystyrene . I think marking fragile is tempting fate..
Other people on here have in the past said it should be able to be thrown from a height onto concrete and still be ok.
I do think the packing is down to you.

For anything fragile, I would certainly double box and I can’t see why the age of the box has any relevance apart from giving the company a simple cop out.
