Hi.
Last year I joined my company BUPA scheme and got the paperwork. It says:
Scheme Name: Bupa Select Category 2
Cover option: Partnership Network
Underwriting method applied: Non-underwritten
Please can someone advise what the non-underwritten means exactly? I searched online and with Bupa and cannot find anything so far.
I have just added my partner onto the scheme to start from next month. My partner broke their hand ion Nov and is still off work as there are complications. WOuld they be able to get private treatment even though this is pre=existing?
Please advise

It relates to how they assess your medical history and exclude pre-existing conditions. "Non-underwritten" is the most favourable to you. However your partner might not be covered under the same terms. If your partner is covered as fully-underwritten or as moratorium, BUPA won't pay anything for the problems with her broken hand.
