Hi i took out an iva and this was completed a couple of years ago.one of the creditors was for a joint loan which i had with my ex wife.she recently was contacted by the creditor saying the balance was outstanding.
I thought including the debt in my iva would have just got rid of the debt.As far as im concerned im now debt free and not responsible if they contact my ex wife.please can you tell me where i stand. I spent 7 years clearing my iva and now im stressing.i recently had heart surgery and just worrying.many thanks

  • Joint loans meant they are joint and several for both parties, one can't pay / enters IVA / DMP / bankruptcy, the creditors can go after the other.

In your case you entered an IVA, so you were ruled out, they have gone for your ex and want full payment from her.

You are safe from this creditor, why are you stressing over it?

Were you not told this would happen by entering an IVA?

Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.
