PayPal closed claim, clearly fake scam, they've now reopened case - what are my chances?

Hi all,
Was contact via ebay buyer to sell phone...so I did.  I thought I was being smart by waiting until the money had reached my PayPal account AND it had transfered into my bank.  At this point I thought it was fine, dutifully went to the post office and did special delivery for next day.  Got home and there was a paypal case opened for an unauthorised payment and Paypal had put my account into minus.  I sent the tracking information and even the email conversations.  A few hours later PayPal closed case (even though this is clearly a scam) in the buyer's favour!
I called PayPal and discussed the evidence and that there is no way on earth I could be at fault here and that the money was in my bank and I've sent the tracking information.  They have no examined the evidence again and reopened the case...they have also told me to cancel the delivery, but reading on this forum, looks like I  can't do that?
What do you think my chances are of PayPal finding the case in my favour and then putting my account back to a balance of zero?
I can believe someone would scam someone, but can't believe PayPal could act like this when this is clearly a scam and I've not done anything wrong.
Cheers.

Sounds like someones ebay account has been compromised and a fraudster has ordered your phone. Not the real account holder.

When you say 'Was contact via ebay buyer to sell phone...so I did' - did they make the purchase of your listing by clicking 'Buy it now'? Or did they send you a message to say they wanted to buy it, and you did the deal via the messaging system? If it was the latter, I would imagine you have no protection at all, as you've circumvented the official buying process.
  • If the transaction has seller protection you need to provide Paypal with proof of postage to the address on the transaction page.

This is spot on, don't worry about anything else- this is all you need. Proof of posting to the address that paypal gave you as 'Ok to send to'.

I don't always trust paypal so would add the proof of posting (POP) to any dispute and clearly state you have full seller protection. I would also follow that up with a phone call pointing out clearly that you have full seller protection.
