Mid October 2019 I switched gas supplier from Better Energy to another supplier as my tariff was ending . I chased BE a month later for a final gas statement as I wanted to know if it was in credit or debit to them . BE told me they had not received my meter reading I had given to the new supplier, so BE had used the Transporter reading which was not the same figure and I was advised by BE that if this reading wasn't the same then I had to request the new supplier to send a Shipper Agreed reading to BE I did this.Since there was a difference in the readings I was given a credit on my account by the new supplier to cover the difference. Anyway to cut long story short, I had an email from BE on 14th Jan along with my closing gas bill (in credit over £100) saying PFP Energy has taken on the customers of BE and that PFP will refund the credit balance but with no indication of when they will be doing this. The email advised to " please watch out for further communications from BE or PFP Energy and respond as requested to make the process as easy as possible". Nothing further has happened. Is there an Industry agreed timescale for Suppliers to refund their former customers does any one know ? My £100 plus is earning them a little interest but I would much prefer it to be earning me a little interest in my a/c really and there are plenty of other outgoings I could use that money for...I suspect I am not alone in this scenario. Would I be entitled to some compensation ? Is anyone else in this situation ? Thanks

AFAIK it's six weeks to produce the final bill, and £30 compo if they don't refund within two weeks after that, and another £30 if not refunded after another two weeks. The catch is that there's no penalty if they take far longer than six weeks to generate the final bill. Isn't Ofgem wonderful?
