PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

There's loads of overlap, definitely should be under one umbrella.3

Isn't it all incredibly intertwined? I don't see how you could possibly separate them.1

I don't think it is... Aren't most posts about either buying/selling, or renting? We generally get process questions and they're one or the other.Bakeoff said:Isn't it all incredibly intertwined? I don't see how you could possibly separate them.0 -
There a debate houseprice board and mortgage board yet those posts often end up here so what is the point of splitting?
An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0 -
For people who are renting, there is a ridiculous amount of posts about mortgages, solicitors, land registry, etc etc etc which are completely irrelevent. For those trying to negotiate getting a mortgage, they see all the threads asking about whether a landlord can evict someone. I'd have thought it makes more sense for a "home owners and buyers board" and a "tenants board". This section a busy forum, and instead we have three subforums, one of which contains a lot of information that half the readers won't find relevant.0

Don't forget, though - when people come here with a question, they don't browse through posts to see if it's already been answered. If we're lucky they search; if not, they just post. The fact that there are a bunch of other threads, 50% of which are totally unrelated to their question and 50% are mostly unrelated, is irrelevant.
Having renting and buying/selling questions together is only relevant to those of us who browse this forum to answer questions - and most of us are capable of answering both types of questions, so it's simplest to have them together, especially since some questions are related to both (e.g. moving).0
