PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Splitting forum into buying and renting

Seeing as the forum has just had a major change maybe this is the time to bring this up again.
Is there any good reason why renting forum is mixed with buying/selling, other than the vague "they both involve housing"? They really are completely different subjects which have no place with each other. There really is no overlap.
This sub forum comfortably has the numbers to be split in two, it has the largest amount of threads of any sub forum on the site. I know people asked for this a while ago but I thought its a good time to have another push

I agree.I used to be seven-day-weekend0

I'm going to disagree.
There's a lot of areas where they do overlap. BtL, chain-breaking, FTBing, shorter-term accommodation. There's regular questions on all of those.
It's not as if there's an unworkably high volume of questions in this area.8 -
A lot of threads would crossover - relations with neighbours, queries from tenants about landlords' titles, etc - I don't see a great need to separate them out.4

Buying a first property and then leaving a rental property is a lot of crossover. Also, having threads about property buying and ownership in the same forum as those one may be reading while renting becomes really useful, broadening the information readers are exposed to.

I agree that there is a fair amount of crossover, don't really see the need to change it.It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.0 -
Been discussed many times before. Way too many crossover posts.

Of course if we could tag posts within the forum...A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
