Can anyone explain why BBC have forced us to put up with SIGNING on MURDER, MYSTERY AND MY FAMILY on catch up / iplayer ?
Whilst they may help deaf people - they are available as an option (subtitles) on other programs - not forced on us - with a person signing on the screen...which blocks half of the screen...

You seem to be confusing signing and subtitling which are two different things.
Programmes are generally available on iPlayer for a fixed amount of time after being broadcast.
In this case it seems that the signed version was most recently broadcast but the non signed version has not been broadcast recently, so that is why the signed version is the only version available at the moment.
I might be wrong but that's the most likely reason.
There is more information here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/questions/accessibility/remove-sign-language
It's not a general policy decision to only make shows available with signing, it's more of a side effect of how they have got things set up with signed shows being treated as separate from the originals.1 -

So - with this particular program - current series - being shown in the early hours of the morning - it is shown on catch up (presumably originally) with SIGNING - will it ever be shown with no signing ?
Signing makes it hard for me to watch
Why don't they use selectable subtitles instead ?0 -

Yes, It would have been shown without signing originally (back in November/December). Those have now been removed from iPlayer after 30 days. Currently being repeated with signing which is what you're seeing on iPlayer.
I have no information as to whether it will be repeated again without signing.
They use selectable subtitles as well when originally broadcast.
Why they do signing as well, is because many deaf people prefer viewing content that way, it is their native language.1 -

Is it so hard to have a tiny amount for a group in need?
It in no way takes up 'half' the screen.
I'm often up early doors and often see programs that are signed. doesnt bother me in the slightest.
Now while you were foaming, did you think to have a look on the BBC site?
