Virgin flying club savings account

Hi I'm looking at virgin atlantic flying club savings account. Instead of interest it it pays out in flying club miles . It says the equivalent interest would have to be 2.4% if you bought the air miles from virgin. My question is this a worthwhile account as I would use the air miles or would I get a better deal with cash interest and using a cheaper airline? Or are there better deals out there ?

The trouble with in Virgin Flying Club is finding a flight to use them on. Before you go ahead, go on their site and try finding a flight going to the destination you are thinking of at the time of year you think you'd like to travel that will take air miles.0

Anyone else have experience with this account. ?0

If you want Virgin Miles, you would be better collecting them using the Amex PRGC, VA Credit Card, shopping portal, shopping in Waitrose,or converting from Tesco Clubcard.
It rarely makes sense to buy air miles, unless you need a small number for a redemption that you know is available.0 -
Virgin should be ashamed of themselves. Collect loads of airmiles and then find its almost impossible to book a miles flight. Occasionally off season in economy, but premium or upper class, forget it.
Disgusting way to treat their loyal customers, and lets not forget air miles earnt are not free, to earn enough for a reward flight makes them more than the ticket price!!Life's a gamble, be lucky!1 -
Agree with LifesAGamble as indicated in my previous post.
I didn't mention previously that I did ring the Flying Club and complained about the situation. The agent sympathised and recommended I transfer my miles into Hilton miles and use them that way. What an admittance !1 -

When and where are you trying to fly?LifesAGamble said:Virgin should be ashamed of themselves. Collect loads of airmiles and then find its almost impossible to book a miles flight. Occasionally off season in economy, but premium or upper class, forget it.

Looking at https://seatspy.com/virgin-reward-seat-availability there is a lot of availability in Upper Class between LHR and JFK.
And if you really cannot use your miles, the exchange rate from Virgin Miles to Hilton is not bad - 10k Virgin Miles = 15k Hilton points1
