Holiday insurance for pre existing condition

I have a holiday booked in April to Singapore and Thailand, with the current issues in Asia at the minute my wife is absolutely terrified about going to the point in where she doesn't want to go.

I have a pre existing medical condition which effect my lungs so you can see why my wife is worried.

we paid for our holiday separately through credit card, i spoke to them yesterday and they said i couldn't claim back money through them if we wish to cancel unless its in their terms and conditions (which is isnt).

I have travel insurance already, would you think its possible to claim cancellation through insurance if i was to get a not fit to fly through my specialist doctor?

or am i looking at loosing my money? or would you just go?

Any advise is appreciated.

  • Hi there

Does your travel insurance cover you for your lung condition? I too have a lung problem (hence my username).
  • Yes, my condition is declared with insurance company.

Is the main reason for cancellation, because your wife is scared of travelling?

Sounds like you are fit to fly.....your wife doesn't want you to. So unless you are planning on fibbing to the Dr you either go or take the financial hit.

Travel insurance doesn’t cover you for not wanting to go.
Sometimes Drs are sympathetic but I doubt they would lie and sign you off as unfit to fly if you are fit to go.

If the FO were to advise people not to travel to Singapore you could probably cancel then.
