Witness Summons in the county court can be a very useful tool in certain cases and can force the hand of those less certain or "less professional" as you may say, combine this with allocating to a far away court does work. Obviously this has implications and is only suitable for certain claimants and certain car parks

I think the hardest part would be determining how much to offer a scammer in expenses.

If the witness did appear and the defendant won, could they then reclaim the expenses in addition to the standard £95?

As well as this, or as an alternative, there is the ability to request a witness attend where the scammers are relying on hearsay evidence. This could be for example where the scammers state their operative observed the vehicle for a period of time. The employee could then be requested to attend to be questioned on this as well as requiring the scammers to show the employee's notebook/tablet where they recorded the alleged evidence.
