PVC Bathroom Panels

Has anybody completely refurbished a bathroom with PVC bathroom panels?
I like the idea of them because I can stick them over the exiting tiles and do the work myself, I can panel the whole room for a fraction of what I'd pay for tiling.
It's also little mess which is a major bonus.
I do have reservations though, will they look cheap? Will it be blatantly obvious I've got plastic walls?
I have been to a showroom but it was only a small place which didn't really convey a sense of how a whole room would look.
I'd appreciate any thoughts from people that have done this or considered it.

I was considering these for a bathroom, but ended up with tiles. The tiles give a nice finish. I have seen some plastic wall panels slightly with a flex and the finish looks cheap. Also these have to be fitted properly otherwise water can ingress through the panel joins. I would possibly use the panels in second bathroom/ensuite and would go for a higher quality panel as the cheaps ones can also discolour over time.0

Cheap panels make the room look like the inside of a static caravan, but you can end up spending serious money on the better quality panels and it doesnt look a whole lot better....Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

My mother has them in her bathroom. IMOH they do look cheap but do the job. Definitely not as nice as tiles.0

I have recently had a new bathroom and in the shower cubicle and along the back of the sink, I had multipanel fitted bought from the bathroom showroom.
I was advised against fitting it on top of tiles, so I removed the tiles myself and then had the walls skimmed.
I did look at PVC panels but chose multipanel as IMO they are far better quality.SPC 0370 -

I think it depends on the situation and the quality and style of the panels.
I have one bath / shower done with high end commercial panels and another that is tiled. I am very happy with both but the panels are easier to keep immaculate in a very hard water area. They are half inch thick marine ply finished with high quality laminate surface. Certainly not a cheap option though!1 -

Water softener may have been a better option. We moved from a hard water area to a horrendously hard water area. Replaced the water softener and can't believe the difference they make. I thought the sales lady was making it up, but she wasn't.Make £2025 in 2025

I used multipanels inside both showers as oppose to tiles, but these are not a cheap option and not to be confused with the upvc panels which I think look very cheap and nasty.0

I've got a shower enclosure in 2 sheets of bright orange acrylic, only joined with self-coloured strip in the corner. Wanting a bright colour determined it's use, I wasn't impressed with the plain white sheets. In the main bathroom I have tongue and groove white boards and I think they look cheap and definitely look off-white against the white suite."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
