Limited Capability for Work and appointments

Options
Hi, I’m experiencing something odd and would appreciate some advice.

I had a health assessment last February and was found to have limited capability to work. When I saw my work coach after she gave me simple tasks like sorting a CV etc as I wasn’t expected to look for work.

This continued until August when I arrived at the Job Centre for an appointment and was turned away saying I wasn’t listed. I sent several messages to my coach with no reply in the following weeks.

Unfortunately my health worsened after this and I’ve been concentrating on trying to get better, so dealing with UC has been the last of my worries.

Has anyone else had anything similar happen? Am I right in thinking I’ll be due another health assessment soon as it’s been a year?

If you have limited capability for work, you will not have a Work Coach assigned to your claim.

When your assessment is due, they will add a letter to your journal and the assessment centre will post you the form to complete. The review periods are variable and not always after 1 year.

If your condition has worsened or you have new conditions, then call or journal Universal Credit to ask when the next assessment is due. You can ask for an assessment to be arranged, if not currently due, but you should be aware they could find you fit for work, even if you did supply further information from your Doctors.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Doesn't this only apply to those that have LCWRA? The OP has LCW and for this they will have a work coach, it's the same as being in the WRAG for ESA.

OP regarding your reassessment, you can be reassessed anytime from 3 months. The timescales you're told, is just a guide.
  • Indeed I do (did) have a work coach.

My last task was to upload a CV by a certain date, which I did, yet the deadline for this keeps changing to later dates. I’m not sure if this is automatic or if someone is actually changing it their end?
  • at some point you will receive another health questionnaire ( UC50 ) through the post. Complete this thoroughly and copy any written evidence of your health condition into the form. A decision regarding capability for work can be made without recourse to an assessment.

It is not unusual not to have a Work Coach attached to your claim - can be a pretty hit or miss affair,

If your health condition has significantly deteriorated since the WCA and want a WCA you can try phoning up the service centre but I don't think that will work.
I think you will have to log into the UC a/c, in the change of circs, complete section for health, inform the Case manager of this and request a WCA and then provide fit notes.
  • Thank you for the replies, I think I’m more concerned with them saying I haven’t done something properly or that I’ve been overpaid or something.
