Carpet right miss size do I have a case

Hi we ordered a bedroom carpet, stairs and landing carpet and some laminate flooring from Carpet right 4 years ago.
We picked the carpet we liked in store, then their salesman came out and measured up for us.
We then went back into the store and paid for what they said we needed.

A few months later our fitter collected the carpets and laminate from carpet right and fitted the bedroom carpet.
Because we were having some delays with a replacement front door and then needing to replace part of the stairs the fitting of the laminate flooring and stairs / landing carpet has been delayed.
To cut a long story short, we finally had the fitter back out today to fit the stairs and landing carpet (he has been storing this for us while we got the rest of the hall work done) and there is not enough carpet for the stairs. we are 4 steps short because of the way the pattern repeats (think of matching wallpaper drops).
He has been back to Carpet right and that carpet is no longer made.

Given that the carpet was measured up by Carpet right originally do we have a case to get anything done.
I assume that we have had the carpet for 4 years without getting it fitted may be an issue.

  • The time scale will be an issue.

Is there any chance there was an alternative way to fit the pattern so that it would fit?

Ooft 4 years without fitting it.

What are Carpet Right saying about it?

I imagine there will be some small print about measurements needing checked.

Plus it sounds as though the actual amount of carpet is fine but because of a repeating pattern it is now short.

I'm not sure that is Carpet Right's issue.

I think your best bet is checking other stores to see if they have any leftover supply of that carpet.

Otherwise you will probably need to compromise in some way with pattern or carpet locations.
  • If it’s an issue due to the pattern not fitting your configuration, it’s not really Carpet Right’s issue.
    Sorry!
  • As above, I think you'll either have to fit it in a way that it fits, ignoring the pattern, or go and find a new carpet for the stairs.

I can't see what CR have done wrong and after four years, I can't see them being interested in helping, other than to sell you a new carpet.

I'm amazed your fitter was happy to sit on the stock for four years whilst you dithered about! He sounds like a star - keep him onside.

I'm not sure that the fitter held on to the stock (it may have been left in the OP's spare room/garage/shed) but I can see how you might think that, the way the OP is worded. :)

Seems well worded given the "HE"
