We are looking to move to Northamptonshire- half way ish between Desborough and Milton Keynes. I don’t know the area so looking for advice on suitable villages with the easiest commute as well as areas and routes to avoid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Thank you

are you driving or taking the train? I used to live in Rushden which is east northamptonshire. Easy enough drive but if i remember rightly the wellingborough line went Bedford and London not Milton Keynes. If you lived near the Northampton train line i think you could get a direct train to Milton Keynes but involves living near smelly NorthamptonAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

Thanks for your reply - I will be driving0

In that case it is pretty easy no matter where you are (don't go near Corby it's a dump)An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

MK to Desborough is a really wide area to cover! Desborough is almost Leicestershire so quite far away.
If you want to be close to MK then you want the South and West sides of Northamptonshire. Rushden, Corby etc are on the other side of Northampton. There is massive traffic through Northampton so would try to avoid it.
I would be looking at the villages off the A5 if it were me. Old Stratford, Deanshanger, Paulerspury, Potterspury, Castethorpe, Towcester, Wootton, Whittlebury, Crick, Long Buckby, Kilsby, Flore, Weedon.
Towcester is a lovely town - and very pretty!0 -

Corby is not a dump. It may have had that reputation many years ago but it's better than Kettering and Northampton now.
If I had a choice near Milton Keynes I would look at olney. But I would agree with ethank.
Also look at the villages and towns around thrapston.0 -

half way between desborough and milton keynes is pretty much northampton. somewhere close to the m1 would make the easiest communte. bugbrooke, collingtree, kislingbury if your looking at villages obviously the good links usually means the price is higher
Wouldnt consider anything anywhere near corby if your commuting to milton keynes, you would be looking at 1.5 hours atleast in busy times0 -

Corby/Kettering/Northampton are all as bad as each other these days. Corby centre and facilities have improved alot but thats about it. northampton town centres terrible these days and ketterings going the same way0 -

Have to disagree with you about Corby, I have a friend who's lived there her whole life and she's always telling me how bad it's getting, to the point that she's considering upping roots and leaving despite leaving all her family and friends behind. I visit her every year or so and I've seen a decline in the area in my last few visits. You can barely walk a whole street without bumping into smack rats off their faces. Yes there's been a bit of a facelift and some funding in the area but that doesn't make up for the bad points.
I know all areas have their problems but Corby seems to be the dumping ground for the worst of society. I can't really comment on the other areas because I've only ever been to Corby in that part of the country while visiting but nothing could tempt me to move there.0 -
Just ensure you stay within the Northampton border cheaper property and rates.
