Credit Card Overpayment

First of all, apologies if this has been asked before and for my ignorance.

As we know, the Tandem Cashback card will be no more after March 9th (unless you pay the "membership")
Anyway, deciding that I would pay off the card completely this month so I could just forget about it, I payed this months statement balance plus the balance I had spent since all in one go.
Problem is, I think i payed it a little too late for it to register before the direct debit was processed :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So now my balance is showing the full amount (statement +extra as being paid on 01/02/20, plus a pending direct debit for last months statement amount.

My question is: will this extra payment be reversed, as there wasn't actually a balance on the card to pay, or will the direct debit be taken, therefore putting the card into positive balance?

I don't have a problem if the direct debit is taken, as I will just use the Tandem card for all everyday spending until the positive balance is gone, I'm just after the opinions of the more knowledgeable folk on here.

Thanks

If it takes the DD. Then call them and ask them to refund back to your bank account. As you will be in credit that should be free.

    .

If the dd is taken you can either do a dd indemnity which will refund your money instantly (speak to you current account provider) or if you close the account with the card in credit they will refund the balance in the form of a cheque

I had that this month with my Halifax Clarity. They refunded the credit balance back to my account within less than 48 hours.

I'll give them a few more days to see if the money is refunded.

If not, as I said, if not, I'll just use it for everyday spending until the balance is clear :D

I did call them up to request the refund. Should have been clearer on that!
