Anyone used Heritage Consulting?

Hello all,
I need to get a full building survey done of a house that has some apparent damp issues. I'm contemplating using Heritage Consulting as their approach to diagnosis and resolution seems far more logical to me than the chemical damp proof course route I'm likely to be sent along by other companies. Their fees are huge - at least twice as much as other surveyors i've had quotes from, maybe even approaching 3x. Before I fork out this much money I'm hoping there may be some other forum members who have used Heritage Consulting and can share thoughts on the service?
many thanks

Just looking at their website, they are a firm of Chartered Surveyors, so members of a Professional Body which may allay any fears if there is a problem with their service etc.

The comparison quotes that you have may not be from Chartered Surveyors, but from Damp treatment companies. these effectively are not surveyors at all, but more salesmen who advise you that you need x y and z done and they can do it for £shedloads.

So be careful that you are not comparing apples with apples.

Thanks Phil99, it's a good point and I'm definitely not going to approach damp treatment companies. I'm comparing with quotes for full building surveys by RICS registered surveyors which have been in the region on £500-700. Even these "full" surveys seem to simply conclude "get a damp and timber survey because the meter reading is red".

    Yes, I have used them.

Most sensible surveyor I have ever dealt with.

You'll get your money back on a good survey, frankly. I had the luxury of going around the whole house, plus scaffolding with him. One of the most informative and satisfying days of my career.

    Not exaggerating!

    Thanks Doozergirl. That's reassuring.
