Poor Faulty Carpets fitted - Paid by credit card

Hello, sorry I am new to this site but really hoping for some help. I recently paid £300 deposit for carpets to be fitted on our stairs and laminate in the hallway and was due to pay the remaining £300 when the job was finished and I was happy. The carpet is a complete mess on the stairs, its been cut to short, fraying at the edges and just looks an absolute mess I've been in tears. The laminate is just as poor, I've had family comment that it looks like a child's done it. I asked the business manager to come round to look at it and he agreed that it was bad - in his words 'he must of just been having a bad day as he's usually better than this' Today he sent another carper fitter round to replace the stairs and I've been home to check and there is now glue on the carpet in areas and its fitted just as poorly, if not worse than before I'm gutted, I really am. There is also glue on the laminate nest to the stairs, he must of just been round and sprayed glue all over and left nail and staples all over the place - just really disrespectful! I'm so upset, i've spent so long decorating and now im just embarrassed. I don't no where we stand in regards to getting our money back if its possible at all as we are going to have go elsewhere and get it done again but hopefully done properly this time. Are we legally able to ask for our deposit back as I don't not believe its worth paying for. Any help would be appreciated thank you
