It was pop3 before when all was working well but the Sky chap had me change it to imap, presumably to reflect whatever changes Sky have made.
And you still haven't told us the details!

I've been using Outlook 2007 for years with no issues and just moved to Outlook 2013 (I know, but it was the only free version I have) when I updated to Win 10, and again I've had no issues setting up an account to use with sky yahoo mail despite it not being on their "approved" list of clients.

    I use the following:

    pop.tools.sky.com 995 (SSL)
    smtp.tools.sky.com 465 (SSL)

Make sure you use the full address username@sky.com as the Logon username.
  • Not worked on my mobile, iPhone iOS 13 since the weekend! Still it is only spam anyway!

Yes i was baffled until i followed these instructions, kept getting password etc wrong. You have to generate a new password.

Roxy 28 thanks so much that worked a treat. :T Just a shame that the Sky advisor couldn't have told me that over the phone!

One other slight issue I now have.

If I read an email on my iphone it then will not come through on my laptop when I open Thunderbird. How do I get it to still come through on my laptop even if I've already opened and read the message on my phone?

Yes thats another thing, you have to generate a new password for each device you have, mobile, laptop, desktop, etc. Thats what i did anyway, one for laptop and one for desktop.

That sounds like pop3 behaviour, are you still using that on one of the devices or are they both on imap now?

Quote "If you decide not to update your email application, you will no longer be able to access your Sky.com email using this method on or after 25/02/2020."

Is it possible after upgrading our Sky email win 7 > win10, WLM > outlook 2010, POP3 > IMAP, and successfully created a 16 digit password that Sky   can actually refuse to allow us to download our emails unless we upgrade to Outlook 2019/365?  This appears draconian to prohibit users using current supported software?

I know we could move (possibly to Thunderbird and/or change our email address to gmail/outlook.com), but this decision appears unreasonable.

My question is having made the technical changes and having Outlook 2010 working can they really halt the download of emails?  Has anyone suffered this? Secondly would using a VPN limit Sky's access to seeing what we are using?

Sky's decision appears draconian and heavy handed
