O/S Daily Tuesday 4 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark and the air feels chilly this morning.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips and peas for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. Tonight I will be cooking the chicken in a bag that I had originally bought for Sunday roast - I have some new potatoes so may well roast those with some herbs and some mushrooms. I'll decide later.
Yesterday work was ok, the technology seemed to be ok - we'll see what happens today! Had a few difficult cases one first thing - but managed to avoid any major confrontation and didn't need to call the Police - although that may well be a different story if the customer shows up again - which we expect at some point.
Keep safe and well x

Goood morning, and thanks for starting NMLC, hope work goes ok.
It seems damp here, probably cold as well. Yesterday the wind was bitter.
Bella, so sorry to hear about your poor dog, it's so sad.
Jackie O, just what you need, the expense of a new boiler. Our boiler man said after the last service, we might be looking at a new boiler - it's 10 years old, that's elderly apparently. Our last one was 24 years old when we replaced it - it was still working and had never needed repairing. It was just they kept telling us we wouldn't get spares if it broke down..
Going to tai chi this morning, when I get back Dgs will be here for the day. We are going to nip over to Ds's to borrow his circular saw so Ds can reduce the wood from the old shed to manageable proportions to get into the car and take to the tip.
Residents'Association tonight, at which I'll take the minutes, then the Tuesday quiz, so a busy day ahead.
I made a shepherds pie last night, so we can have that tonight with veg.
That's it I think, hope you all have a good day.
Take care folks0 -
Morning All
So sorry to hear your sad news bella.
Oh dear JackieO, that's a blow.
Busy day at work yesterday, we have an inspection today - not the big one - but enough to send everyone into a panic! We will all need our half term holiday after this week.
Sorted some things to take to DS2s, couldn't find the travel passes anywhere then remembered DD was the last to visit so need to pick them up this morning. I'm going to see The King and I with some work colleagues this evening, should be fun.
Hope you all have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It feels cooler this morning so the heating is on just to take the chill off. The wind is still with us but not blowing quite as savagely as yesterday.
Tuesday meet up day. As of yet our coffee shop is still open and the staff have no idea how much longer they will have a job for. It seems the council prefer to see empty shops rather than keep rents down. We have a number of alternative coffee shops we could use but they only serve cakes and snacks, whereas we want a proper lunch after our busy morning drinking coffee and putting the world to rights!
I did a very small declutter yesterday! I tidied out the cupboard under the sink! Why did I keep so many bottles and tubs with just dregs in the bottom! They are now swilled out and in the recycling, with a promise not to let it happen again! As for the rest of the decluttering I am waiting for GERS to come down and sort me out!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need or want of them. RR I hope things are more peaceful for you and your DD now. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning folks.
After the icy chilly wind yesterday I'm hoping for a bit milder day. I had put on my waterproof jacket when I really needed my extra warm and waterproof jacket!
TA. - shredding is such a relaxing pastime, in small doses.
My afternoon was spent doing...more clearing out of box files. I've moved the now empty ones into another cupboard (DM wants to keep them 'in case') whilst the full ones are reduced from about 40 to six. Work in progress. I'm going to struggle with the blue recycling bag today. :rotfl:
I also moved all the ornaments. I don't have any ornaments in my own home apart from paintings and photos on the walls.
Today I've got a sports massage booked this morning. My neck and shoulders are so tight and painful just now, think it's because of using the crutches. I now tighten my shoulders when concentrating on walking without them. I'm both looking forward to the massage and dreading equally, it's bound to really hurt.
This evening I've been invited out for supper and gin :j I'm being collected, fed, watered and then bundled home in a taxi. So looking forward to it too.
Right, need to do some organising before going out. I'll leave a breakfast tray for DM and a flask of tea.
Now I wish everyone a peaceful and happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning all
Seems very cold here this morning but no frost on the cars, the heating has been on for an hour or so to take the chill off.
Dinner tonight will be a pork fillet slow roasted in the oven with some garlic and I will do a risotto type dish with it with some mushrooms and I will roast some tomatoes.
Going to have a good clean through this morning, I have also put a towel wash on which I may hang out for a while depending on the weather.
Bella I am so sorry to hear about your dog friend, its so heartbreaking when they go, but they do bring so much joy into our lives while here xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning all from a turbulent and cold mehefinland
Well I knew the peace wouldn't last !! Yesterday when bringing the mares in there was a rush for the door which turned into another kicking match, with me, Mrs M and Sallylabrador right in the middle!!! Much squealing and biting and some very rude language later we got them sorted out. Mrs m very shook up but no real harm done this time - well t least no blood! One rug tail strap snapped clean in two but nothing that isn't repairable. So today more fencing deployed to try to avoid a trap spot in the field which is basically what happened yesterday. Frightening to be that close to flying hooves with nowhere to go.
Tey are all out with the wind up their tails this morning so we will see what fireworks we get at in time.
Mrs M has gone down to a 4 morning week in preparation for retirement and she said " something always goes wrong when I have a day off" which got a retort on the lines of look forward to next Monday then. She was not amused.
Bella so sorry about your dog..It does seem so unfair, and they leave such a big hole in your life.
Sallylabrador has decamped to the floor from the sofa . she will be letting me know its walk time shortly ( if she wakes up)
Hugs and spoons as always

Grey and breezy morning. OH has an appointment with the physio and then the dentist. Phone call yesterday to remind him to be at the dentist for 11.10.......no way he is at the physio then, well you will have to come back after 2pm.......sorry no can do, I am not driving home after his physio and then come back in.........so we have to go and sit and wait. We may well end up having lunch in town.
Yesterdays laundry dried and put away, have a white load to do tomorrow, will put it on whilst we are at the little chapel coffee morning.
Its a bit of a grey wild morning, the wind has strengthened quite a bit from yesterday.
Sorry to hear about your doggy friend Bella. Mehefin, glad it wasn't me trapped in the middle of a horse fight, very scary.
No idea about supper, depends on whether we eat in town at lunchtime.0 -
Morning all
It's a very blustery day, but at least it's dry.
My laptop is still playing up
Anyway all painting finished :j so the tidy up will continue today, as Dad arrived with a frozen chicken and some other stuff for my freezer yesterday and he stayed for a while for coffee. I'm sure he has ESP or something because as soon as there's a bit of room in the freezer he arrives to fill it . I need to get Mr Fix It to sort through his spice jars, ready for washing out/ wiping down and I have to put the decorating stuff away under the stairs.
Don't know what tea will be today, will have to rummage in the freezer later, possibly something with oven chips ? We had a spanish omelette yesterday just to use up some odds and ends from the fridge. That was interesting to say the least !
Take care all
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
What a complete PLONKER I am  my physio appointment is for tomorrow rather than today.
A reminder text came through which showed the error of my ways, at least it wasn't yesterday.
So, after dumping more paper at the recycling centre I took myself off to a wee cafe for coffee, a piece of coffee & walnut cake and a read of the paper followed each by a little light shopping.
Not a good start, though faintly amusing even to me.0
