Carers allowance decision

Put in a claim for carers allowance and was told last Friday it was with the decision maker and I'd hear by today. Called today as hadn't heard anything and was told a decision has been made but they can't tell me over the phone.
Is this normal or is this them avoiding telling me my claims been rejected in case I become irate? I didn't plan on becoming irate, just I imagine some people do.

Do you provide care for someone who gets dla mid or upper rate care? or either rate of pip care?
Do you earn below the allowed limit from employment?
IF the answers are yes then there shouldn't be a problem. the first payment can hit your bank account before you get notification sometimes.0 -
Yes to all your questions, however I was working prior to becoming a full time carer and received a final payment in December. I applied in January so don't know if that would affect my claim?
Just find it strange she said she couldn't tell me the decision over the phone.0 -
If you were paid monthly you will not be entitled to CA until the end of January if your payment was in late December and was more than £533. For CA earnings are projected forward over the normal payment period so you will have been above the weekly earnings threshold. CA is usually paid 4 weeks in arrears so your first payment would become due in late February.
I agree it’s odd person you spoke to wouldn’t tell you on the phone. If you ring again you might get someone more helpful.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0
