TRACE Debt Recovery & NCP Parking

My wife has been sent 2 PCN's from NCP which were not her car and we have successfully appealed these. The Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras keep picking up the number plate as hers when in fact it is a different car. The parking is for London and we live nowhere near that. She received a letter from TRACE regarding a different PCN which I told her to ignore, she has now received a 'final' letter from them, and we know for a fact this isn't her car but we never received a correspondence from NCP for this certain notice because we would have appealed successfully as we did with the others.

Since it is past the appeal stage on NCP website, should I just ignore the debt from TRACE as we know it was not her that parked there? The only thing is we do not have the pictures from NCP to show it is not in fact her car, is there any way we could receive the original letter they claimed to have sent out from NCP?

Not sure the Newbie posts covered this sort of situation?

TIA.

Just like all the other muppet debt collectors, you ignore TRACE

If you are certain of your facts, write to NCP and warn them about this harassment and to cease Trace contacting you again.

See what they say .... this is not an appeal but a warning
  • Thanks for your reply, I am certain it was not her as we live North East of England, I will write to NCP now and tell them to stop contacting her regarding this and to get them to tell TRACE. Would you advise to email their customer services team to tell them of this? I put in the last appeal that it was borderline harassment and that they should check the number plate better as it is clear that it is not her car.

Email is fine, do you have their ANPR pictures ?
  • I don’t, no. But that’s only because they didn’t actually sent out the letter to her, we never received a notice before this one got sent to TRACE. On the other appeals which were successful, we received letters first. Is there any way I can request the original letter for this one do you think?

In all the other appeals I sent photos of her car and number plate to prove it, which I would have done with this one if they had sent a letter.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Yes, using a SAR, like the NEWBIES thread tells everyone in the 2nd post.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
