What sort of things are you interested in ?
The obvious nearby & free attraction would be the British Museum, but it may not be your idea of fun - without knowing a bit more iabout your tastes it's difficult to advise. Ditto re food choices - cheapest option is usually to locate the nearest Wetherspoons.0 -
The cafes in various university buildings round there are good for cheap food - I don't recommend the one actually in Senate House though as it is noisy with a limited range of food. The Union building in Malet Street has food and bars, and there is a cafe (I think more than one) in UCL if you can work your way round the maze of buildings on the site.
British Museum is obvious for a visit, plus has food (expensive). Less known is the Brunei Gallery in Thornhaugh Street. If you are into archaeology there is the Petrie Museum in UCL. Then there is a visit to the exhibition at the Wiener Holocaust Library or the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square and if you want to wander further afield there is Sir John Soane's Museum in Lincoln's Inn Fields.
Oh, and there are shops too ...0 -
thanks both! Well interested in things like the Soane museum/cheap eats etc. The tip about the caf! in senate house is very useful as was going there. Also sadly the Petrie museum shuts on Monday when I am in London!! typical.0

returned on sunday from near where you are planning . We had breakfast in the goodenough college . Next to corams field . they have a bar and also do evening meals although unsure of them prices the brekkie was decent . More touristy we ate lunch in The Caf! in the crypt . Meal & Pudding & beer for £18 . seems expensive to me but ive never seen a plate of food so full . easily feed 2 people and fairly decent . one chose fish chips and mushy . other has chicken . dspuds and veg . both had apple crumble and custard . huge portions:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
