Corfu holiday recommendations please!

Hello,
I'm looking for a holiday at Corfu but I am finding it very difficult compared to Spain etc.
Every offer seems so different in the type of beach, resort facilities etc etc.
I'm looking for a good quality hotel, near or very near to a SANDY beach, with some facilities, i.e taverna's shops etc and also a reasonable transfer time.
Any help, personal recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Hi Tuvok
The resorts with short transfers either have bad beaches (East Coast) or not much in the resort (West Coast) - the resort that would suit would be somewhere like Sidari but its a longer Transfer
If you are ok with just a few tavernas/shops try the LTI LOUIS GRAND HOTEL in Glyfada which is just 1 hr transfer but i think other islands would be better such as Zante or Kefalonia
Maybe look at a different Greek Island. I you want more advice PM me

Out of interest, what is your definition of a reasonable transfer time? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
1 hour max0

Mattr5 is right, Sidari is a good match for you were it not for transfer time.
However Agios Gordios and Agios Georgios South both have a lot going on, amazing sandy beaches and are well within an hour transfer time.
Enjoy! Corfu is an amazingly diverse island.0 -
There's plenty of sandy beaches in Corfu within an hour. Sidari is only a 50 minute drive from the airport if you take a taxi or private transfer.
I can't recommend specific hotels as we always stay in the same apartments in moraitika and that has a shingle beach.
Sandy beach resorts are Agios Georgios, Agios Gordios, San Stefanos, Paleokastritsa, Glyfada and Issos Beach. There's quite a few bigger hotels in each of these resorts though so you should find somewhere easy enough.
Agios Georgios has a long sandy beach, plenty of bars and restaurants etc and also easy to get to other resorts via water taxi and corfu town by bus too. There's a hotel there called Labranda Sandy Beach that could be worth a look? Not read any reviews though.Lea0 -
Sorry that should say that Agios Gordios has eay access to other resorts via water taxi, and the long beach and lots of bars, tavernas etc on the main road in and all along the beach.
Agios Georgios in the south of the island is where Labranda Sandy Beach is though and still has easy access to Corfu Town, Lefkimmi and the resorts of Moraitika and Benitses all with a 45 min bus ride for says out. Also still has sandy beaches and bars, restaurants etc.Lea0 -

We stayed at this hotel, handy for a good beach in St. George South, was very busy,a lot of non uk guests, not a problem but the restaurant was a bit of a bun fight at meal times as a lot of the people were putting SO MUCH food on their plates, has a good pool and a good bar for evening drinks.0
