Being Thrifty with posh beauty products

Hi All
I have recently treated myself to a posh cleanser and toner (70% off so still MS!). I usually use cotton pads for my regular cleanser but I am aware that most of the product gets wasted on the cotton pad especially with the toner.
What tips do you all have for wasting less product? I had thought of those make up blenders but don't usually use them and thought they might go horrid. Any tips welcome

I was told to dampen cotton pads and the spitz the toner on top. This way it’s not being wasted.
Also, with a beauty blender you dampen it first to stop it socking up the product. I just stick mine in the washing machine once a week to prevent germs.0 -
That makes total sense thank you Bellaboo! I knew there would be a simple solution.0

I use cotton wool oval pads and cut them into either two or four.
That way the pack lasts longer and it encourages you to use less product on them.0 -
I make my own muslin pads which I rinse through, and yes, I dampen them before use. I use oatmeal as a cleanser (and olive oil soap occasionally) and rose water as a toner.1

Hello
I am very careful with my posh skincare. I am lucky that my toner comes in a spritzer bottle, so I spritz it straight onto my face and gentle massage in. As for foundation and similar, I always use my fingers. Better coverage and no waste ( apart from what you choose to wash off your hands). Shower gels I always keep the pumps as high end shower gel does not need pouring out, three or four pumps will wash your whole body, so 300 ml can last a few months. I warm moisturiser in my hands before applying it, and use small punks of eye cream.
The best thing about expensive brands is the quality is that much better, you need considerably less for better results than the cheap, mostly water-containing, brands.
Hope you enjoy your new fancy products!

Put the toner in a spray bottle, and don't use a pad to apply cleanser, use your fingertips.
Watch how many sprays you use - it's easy to use three spritzes when one, positioned in the right place, will do.
Likewise blobs of cream - keep an eye on how much you pick up.
Consider which products you need - sunscreen isn't needed in the uk in the winter, eye cream is often an expensive waste (your usual moisturiser will often do the job), your skincare might too rich and oily if you need to use a makeup setting spray - decide what the minimum of products are that is right for you.
Don't build up a stockpile of anything - have one, and use it up. If you get a cream you don't like: eye cream is good on necks, elbows or feet, facial moisturiser can be used on the body, lip balm can be used as overnight foot balm under socks, unwanted face wash or shower gel can be used to clean the bath!
Avoid 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 offers unless you genuinely, genuinely use that same product all year round. Ditto those bags of mini products whichever you buy two products (one of which to be skincare!) which are all coral lipsticks, a tiny mascara which flakes and a perfume sample which smells like cabbage water, and which then sit collecting dust.1 -
Some fabulous tips there. I think a spray bottle is the way to go to minimise wastage for the toner. As long as it ends up on my face :rotfl:
I totally agree Bexter about using less product. I bought an advent calendar of a really nice skincare range and I am amazed about how far some of the products go.
One in particular is an aroma cleanse foaming cleanser and you only need the tiniest little drop per time. I will definitely buy that in future.
It has totally changed my view on luxury skincare from an MSE perspective. I used to think you were just paying for the branding but I have been proved wrong!1 -
I got an excellant tip from a skincare and make up guru... Splash it on like an aftershave.0

if you can, don’t use cotton wool with your cleanser. Work it in with your hands/fingers and remove with a flannel (Muslin cloth) & very warm water. As all the others have said, spray/spritz the toner.1

I picked up 50ml spray bottles in Muji for a couple of euro. The spray on them is lovely and even for toner, so a couple of squirts cover my whole face. I go through less than two bottles of toner a year now!1
