Thanks for that Idea Tattcath, I will get the kids (19 and 14) to have a go, mind you we dont get any newspapers here, so I had better see if I can scrounge some off of someone. Either that or wait till after christmas and use the wrapping paper to make it?
I have also tried the Curry Sauce, and agree its like the chip shop one. So at 6p its a good last minute resort. Although I make my own curry powder normally, (a hang up from the days when I used to do the catering in the pub!).
Costing is quite easy to effect, but the secret is to make sure you know the price of a unit of something. so for example working our how many spoons of sugar you get to your bag, then you can work out the cost of the sugar etc you use. Although I must confess I havent been doing that for a while. Did it when things were tight in the beginning of the millenium but let it slip a bit.
Sorry I digress. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

But like Tattycath I dont like cheap tea bags or toilet rolls, other stuff I am willing to try. I found Tesco own brand wheat biscuits are just like weetabix but much cheaper![/quote]
Hi Rosieben, Yes I like the cheaper versions of weetabix too. More often than not the consumer only pays for the brand name anyway and not the ingredients as such. That's because we-the consumer are duped (or not) into thinking that cheaper alternatives are inferior and whilst, sometimes this is the case, often it isn't.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Rosieben I havent tried the wheatabix, but I will. I have a recipe or two somewhere where you use wheatabix in a crumble type topping too, will have to dig it out and give it a try.
Have ordered value breaded mushrooms for Xmas day starters. Will make my own bbq sauce. Just for a change. Sick of prawn cocktail.
Even ordered Value line "after 8" mints. Put them in a different dish should be ok.

Hi again Mooloo. I am doing quite well on this grocery challenge so far. But I do need to stock up a bit this week.
Today I will be going into town to get meat, fruit and veg. Tomorrow I am going to get all the storecupboard basics out of town, this should see my total rise quite a bit, but I think I am on target this month.November NSD's - 70 -
Well, yesterday I decided to treat myself to a Waitrose shop, as my little local Tesco has been pretty useless lately (unless you want to live entirely off Christmas food!). Ended up spending £35, plus another £5 on bits and pieces earlier in the day (found some really nice flavoured crackers in Home Bargains for 29p a box) so my total has shot up - to stick to budget I can only spend £6 between now and 22nd January! Not sure that's going to happen but I will try and keep it as low as possible!! On the plus side I did buy LOADS of frozen veg and storecupboard stuff, so I should only need to pick up a few fresh things on a weekly basis - and I'm away for a week over Christmas which should also help!! Oh and hopefully Christmas pressies will stock up my toiletries supply!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
