November was the first month that I actually came in under budget - it can be done!!
My month will start on Dec 3rd and finish on the 23rd - I have budgeted separately for Xmas week and have a houseful of visitors.
For the 3 weeks prior to Christmas I'm aiming for £75 for all food, toiletries, household stuff and dog food.
I will have my sister staying with me for a week too so it may be tough!

Fingers crossed - good luck to everyone else!

I am in again for this month.
I have a little more in the pot this month because of xmas... so £150 for food, cleaning, toilettries and alcohol.

And will keep to the £100 for fuel.

I will be starting on 04/12/07 till 01/01/08.

Good Luck everyone :D ... Let the learning curves be straightened out !!;)

Good morning everyone. I can't find the november thread any more for some reason...
Anyway my December challenge starts on the 1st December and finishes on the 31st. My budget is going to be £200 again + I have a budget of £105 (made up of saving stamps & a voucher) for christmas extras etc. November was my 1st budget and it was a great success (I think I used to spend about £300+) I haven't done the final calculation for November but I will update my sig when I have done my sums.
Good luck to everyone for the challenge!!

  • Hello everyone

This is my first post on this site and my first try at a challenge ... so a HUGE learning curve ahead i think!

I have only me and an adult son at home so there is no reason for me to need to spend as much as I do! I'm hoping to save enough to go on holiday with to America next year with a friend so there's my motivation.

I've been trying to analyse where my money goes for over a year now and have made some saving on fuel, clothes etc but now its time for the grocery budget. I am setting it at £350 from 1 Dec to 31 Dec. Quite high but it does include all groceries, cleaning materials and Xmas goodies.

Thanks for the inspiration guys and wish me luck! I will sort the sig out later once ive figured out how it works!

    :hello:Hello lovelies, :hello:

After a slightly dull meal-wise and slightly less nutritious than usual November, the result is that I spent less than I thought was possible in the supermarket.

So with the £350 I planned to budget for December plus the £105.06 that I saved out of Novembers budget we have a bumper budget to cope with all eventualities.

I have very little left in the cupboards though.

I'm doing the family meal on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day - but we've only got a couple of extra bods each time. I probably can't dish up pasta bake on those days though huh? ;)

We'll inevitably want treats, booze, chocs and other "extras" all over the Christmas period, and when everybody's at home at that time of year it's a constant round of tea and mince pies and visitors and snacks so I'm glad I've got the extra dosh to play with.

I'll still make a plan and be somewhat sensible though. :D

 Hi Patches and welcome to the gang!

If you look up and right a bit there's a bit in the tool bar that says "Quick links"

In there you'll find "Edit Signature" and after that it's easy!

Hello everyone, please can I join in for the first time? I have been reading the oldstyle forum for a while & love all your posts :) We are a family of 5. I have £100 in my budget to cover christmas week & think I will try £50 a week for the other weeks so a total of £250. I need to use up food that we already have in before christmas so hoping I'll come in underbudget! My month starts from the 1st Dec.
    Good luck everyone :xmassmile

 Hiya sweetpea! Welcome to the GC!

I started the first month with reasonably well stocked cupboards - It's nice to have that buffer your first month in.

I'm a bit worried it's all going to go to pot for me in December cos the shopping is all so different at Christmas time but I'm trying to be optimistic about it! :o
