Finding out when card was cancelled

Options
Hi,

Just wondering if it is possible to find out when a credit card you held was cancelled, other than calling the issuer? I’m trying to check when my last Amex card was cancelled, so that I know when to re-apply and receive the sign-up bonus.

Many thanks.

Check through the bank statements you used to pay the CC from.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Unfortunately all of the statements were on-line, and as the cards/accounts have been closed, I cannot access the statements. Thanks for the suggestion though.

You check the account you paid from not the AMEX ones:D

I would do the same, the credit report is probably the last thing they will update ( you need to wait two years now to get a bonus now)

Ahhh - misunderstood the reply - this makes perfect sense. Many thanks.

I did check my credit report, but as MDMD noted, there is nothing on the report other than my currently "live" cards.

Check again, there's a section showing your closed accounts (provided it was closed within the last 6 years), you just need to find it. Which report are you looking in?

(You probably know this, but there are three CRAs: Experian, Equifax, Transunion. They can all be checked for free, go via MSE Credit Club, ClearScore and Credit Karma. They all show details of closed accounts for 6 years.)

Card cancelled & Account closed are 2 different things.

Often when a account is closed, the card is not cancelled. Just marked as not required.
