Yorkshire Energy - debit balance with no bills

I went live with Yorkshire Energy on Wednesday 29 Jan.
Today, I look at my account and see that I have a debit of £7.78. Check the bills section and no bills have been added.
On the 29 Jan, it said my next bill was due 29 Feb and to give a reading within 5 days of this date.
I can only assume that my first bill was due on 31 Jan, and as I have not given a reading, they have done an estimate. £7.78 (on an estimate) would be a close figure to my usage for 3 days gas and elec. But I would have thought that a bill would be showing for this.
Any one any ideas before I fire off an email?

It's just an estimate. They agreed it was confusing and that they were going to sort it out, but that was way back in July. I''m surprised it's still the same with the new website.0

So if they estimate (on an how ever any day basis) and then adjust as a bill is produced this will, for people who do not keep tabs on their spending, cause massive confusion.
Time to make sure that all provided readings are duely logged I think.0 -
I left Yorkshire Energy (leccy only) in late Sept. They paid me back my credit ,which agreed with my calculation to the p.
I logged back into my YE account recently to check whether they had altered the opening reading from last Feb. (long story- involving Together Energy:eek:)-no changes but the front page shows that I'm in credit by £10.70!
No idea where that has come from as the bills and payments are exactly zero:rotfl:0 -
I fear I could be waiting for fun and games. Pretty on the ball with my usage, so will spot anything untoward quickly, I hope.0

When I was with Yorkshire last year they were incredibly efficient and spot on. Unless they're creaking under increased customer numbers I don't think you have anything to worry about.0

It’s just a ‘live’ balance as far as it appears on mine, when you give the meter readings you will get a bill telling you the exact numbers, for now I believe it’s just an estimate for information (happy to be corrected if I am wrong!)0

I've been with them a few months and it's just an estimate of the state of your account while you're between bills. I was as confused as you were when I first saw it but you soon get used to it. Basically, just ignore it and submit your readings at the appointed time. The bill is usually ready within minutes and the estimate of the credit or debit on your account then continues to change on a day by day basis until the next bill is generated. It's a bit pointless really but definitely nothing to worry about.0
